A separate registration process (and fees) will be announced in April for those parents and players interested in participating in Little League "all-star" post season tournaments. Note that players have to meet minimum play requirements during the regular season to be eligible for All Stars.  Please reach out to the league board or past participants to get a better understanding of the time commitment and expectations involved in these tournaments (often beginning June 1).

Each year our local league chooses a Tournament Team (or “All Stars”) of 10-12-year-olds from within the Major division to represent our league at the AZ District 6 tournament and compete against other local Scottsdale area little leagues.  Post-season "All Star" Tournament opportunities are also available for players league-age 8-10 and 9-11. (There's also an opportunity for our younger players to play in a post-season ("TOPs") tournament - see below.)

The District 6 "10U" and "11U" tournaments will once again be hosted by Arcadia LL at Ingleside Middle School fields. The tournaments are expected to begin Sat., June 18, 2022 and last no longer than one week  The District 6 "12U" tournament will once again be hosted by Mountain View LL at Scottsdale Ranch Park fields and will begin on June 26. The Intermediate (50/70) division level district tournament would be expected to occur at Scottsdale Ranch Park sometime between Jun 19 - 30.

The "12U All Stars" are typically selected by a vote from the players' peers and coaches in early May, with some additional roster spots chosen by the All Star coaches. The "11U" and "10U" team's rosters are selected by MRLL's All Star coaches each year.  All team rosters are announced on this website on June 1 each year per Little League rules.  Practice for the "11U" and "10U" teams typically begins right away after rosters are announced.

Participation on these teams requires a significant commitment of time by the players and families involved in June practices, games, and other team events.  If the All Star team is successful at the District 6 tournament held in June, players will be expected to be available for practices and the state tournament for their respective age division held in July.  Arizona State Little League has yet to announce the locations and start dates for all of the 2022 Little League State Tournaments, but approximate start dates of the tournaments are as follows:

8-10 YO | Hosted by District __ | Peoria/Glendale, AZ | Estimated Start Date: Mid-July
9-11 YO | Hosted by District __ | South Tucson, AZ | Estimated Start Date: Mid-July
Little League ("12U") | Hosted by District ___ | Tempe Sports Complex, Tempe, AZ | Estimated Start Date: July 12
Intermediates  | Hosted by District ___ | Flagstaff, AZ | Estimated Start Date: Early July (e.g. July 5-10)

***Typically, all state tournaments are of the double elimination format, but sometimes may involve "pool play" depending upon the number of teams entered into the state tournament.

Only the 12U Majors and Intermediate division levels state winners can advance further, as the 10U and 11U teams culminate at the state tournament level.

The winners of the state Little League (Major/12U) Division advance to represent Arizona in the West Regional held each year in San Bernadino, CA (dates TBD).  The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the world held in Williamsport, PA (and televised on ESPN).  This year's tournament will be held August 17-28, 2022.

Originally, the Scottsdale area little leagues were in Arizona's District 7 and won 12 district championships between 1961 and 1987 in the Little League Baseball Division (also known as the Major Division). In 1987, District 6 was spun-off from District 7. McCormick Ranch Little League has won 8 District 6 championships in the Major Division, second only to North Scottsdale Little League's 11 championships since 1987. McCormick Ranch won the right to represent the state of Arizona at Little League's Western Regional after winning the Major Division's state championship in 1998.  North Scottsdale is the only other Scottsdale area league to have won a state title in Majors (having done so in 1994, 1999, and 2010).

Another post-season tournament experience is available through the league's participation in AZ District 3's "TOPs" tournament. The tournament team is typically comprised of 8 and 9-year-olds that want to extend their season into June. The team typically practices from June 1 until the tournament starts (usually around June 8). The tournament runs from Saturday to Saturday and usually guarantees participating teams 4 nights of games, plus the potential championship game. This is a great way to introduce your player to a higher level of competition in a very fun atmosphere!
