McCormick Ranch Little League - Serving the City of Scottsdale & the Town of Paradise Valley, AZ

Home of the Bulls!!

The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (or “All Stars”) of 10-12-year-olds from within the Major division, and the team may enter the International Tournament.   The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the world.  The "12U All Stars" are typically selected by a vote from the players' peers and coaches, with some additional roster spots chosen by the All Star coaches.  The District 6 "12U" tournament will once again be hosted by Mountain View LL at Scottsdale Ranch Park fields (typically held June 22 - July 3, but dates have not been announced for 2019).

Post season "All Star" Tournament opportunities are also available for players league-age 8-10 and 9-11.  Those team's rosters are selected by the All Star coaches each year.  The District 6 "10U" and "11U" tournaments will once again be hosted by Arcadia LL at Ingleside Middle School fields (typically held June 15-22nd, but dates have not been announced for 2019).  (NOTE: Post season tournament play is also available at the Junior division level.)

Note that players have to meet minimum play requirements during the regular season to be eligible for All Stars.  A separate registration process (and fees) will be announced in April for those parents and players interested in participating in these post season tournaments.

Participation on these teams requires a significant commitment of time by the players and families involved in June practices and games and other team events.  If the All Star team is successful at the District 6 tournament held in June, players will be expected to be available for practices and the state tournament for their respective age division held in July.
Arizona State Little League is pleased to announce the locations and start dates for all of the 2019 Little League State Tournaments:

8-10 YO | Hosted by District 13 | Tempe, AZ | Start Date: 7/12
9-11 YO | Hosted by District 1 | Flagstaff, AZ | Start Date: 7/15
Little League | Hosted by District 9 | Kingman, AZ | Start Date: 7/15

***All three state tournaments will be double elimination (no pool play in 12u)

Only the 12U Majors division level state winners can advance further, as the 10U and 11U teams culminate at the state tournament level.

The winners of the state Little League (Major/12U) Division advance to represent Arizona in the West Regional held each year in San Bernadino, CA.  As it does every year, the tournament schedule will conclude with the Little League Baseball® World Series from August 15-25 in South Williamsport, Pa. for the "12U" or Major Division.

Please reach out to the league board or past participants to get a better understanding of this time commitment and expectations.

“Each of our Little League World Series events provide a memorable experience for the players, parents, volunteers, and families who come to visit from all around the globe,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO. “These tournaments spotlight the hard work and dedication that can be found at local Little League programs in thousands of communities throughout the year, and we are looking forward to the start of another great Little League season in 2019.”

Originally the Scottsdale area little leagues were in Arizona's District 7 and won 12 district championships between 1961 and 1987 in the Little League Baseball Division (also known as the Major Division).  In 1987, District 6 was spun-off from District 7.  McCormick Ranch Little League has won 8 District 6 championships in the Major Division, second only to North Scottsdale Little League's 11 championships since 1987. McCormick Ranch won the right to represent the state of Arizona at Little League's Western Regional after winning the Major Division's state championship in 1998.  North Scottsdale is the only other Scottsdale area league to have won a state title in Majors (having done so in 1994, 1999 and 2010).

Another post-season tournament experience is available through the league's participation in AZ District 3's "TOPs" tournament.  The tournament team is typically comprised of 8 & 9 year olds that want to extend their season into June.  The team typically practices from June 1st until the tournament starts (usually around June 8th).  The tournament runs from Saturday to Saturday and usually guarantees participating teams 4 nights of games, plus the potential championship game.  This is a great way to introduce your player to a higher level of competition in a very fun atmosphere!
