Looking Ahead to Fall

It always amazes me how fast the spring season sails by. A HUGE thanks to MRLL’s executive board and parents for helping to make it happen! Now, we are thinking about Fall Ball. Here is a recap of last season…

MRLL invited players from East Scottsdale, South Scottsdale, Mountain View, and Arcadia Little Leagues for a District 6 fall season. We broke records, registering more players than ever before in the program’s history. We also became the first and only LL in the state to hold a contract with Major League Baseball to use AZ Fall League logos on our uniforms. We celebrated this win with a LL night at Salt River Fields where our players met the pros, threw out the first pitch, announced an inning, and more. We also came together for a day at D-Bat with snacks and freebies and got into the holiday spirit with an end-of-season bake sale.

How can we top all of that?! Here is what we are looking into for Fall Ball 2023:

  • After a successful Farm tournament this spring, we will be scheduling some interleague games with McDowell Mountain LL, who hosts their own Fall Ball program.

  • We are going to renew our MLB contract for AZ Fall League logos, but look at higher quality jerseys to print them on. Closing registration a bit earlier than last season will allow us more time for better uniform options.

  • We are going to see if SRF will host our LL night at another point in the season when we don’t have families headed out of town for fall break. I’d also like to see if we can get on the field to meet the pros a little earlier–fingers crossed!

  • We are going to try and schedule two D-Bat days, one early in the season and one at the end.

  • MRLL’s 2023-2024 player agent, Jenny Derr, will be building Fall Ball rosters with the help of current player agent, Sam Easterly.

If you have additional ideas for how we can make Fall Ball 2023 the best yet, please reach out to me at [email protected]. If you’d like to get involved, sign up here. One of the greatest challenges we faced in Fall 2022 was having too many players for the amount of coaches that volunteered. Please consider coaching this fall–there is no experience required, especially in the Tee Ball and Farm divisions. And, you will have the support for plenty of veteran coaches!

Fall Ball registration will close on August 1. Please register with the link for your spring home league. Have a wonderful summer!
