Residency verification for ALL players & annual tryouts for Minors/Majors players

MRLL/NSLL Families -

We're very excited to be at this point of the year where we begin assembling our teams and preparing for another great Spring season of baseball.

Please read this message thoroughly.

This coming Saturday the 26th and Tuesday the 29th, we will be holding our annual tryouts for Minors/Majors players and residency verification for ALL players.

ALL PLAYERS regardless of age or division: Residency verification is required. If you have not uploaded your residency or school info / birth certificate during your online registration, you will need to bring it in person on the 26th or 29th. Birth Certificates are to be original copies.

ALL MINORS/MAJORS players must participate in ONE of the two tryout events. Yes, even if your player tried out last year, he must try out again. Tee ball and Farm players do not try out.

RESIDENCY FORMS:
1.
Parents are strongly encouraged to use the School Enrollment form (click to download). If your child's school is within the MRLL/NSLL boundaries (ex: Kiva, Cochise, Archway Cicero/Great Hearts, Rancho Solano, Seqouya, Cocopah, Cherokee) you only need the school enrollment form and birth certificate. Have a school administrator sign it and give to us.

2. If your player has transferred to a school outside of the boundary but attended school within the boundary last year, please use the ii(d) waiver (click to download).

3.
If you live within the boundaries but attend school outside of it, please use the regular residency verification method.

TEE BALL/FARM
: We are looking to finish forming teams in these divisions by the beginning of February. If your league age 8-year-old player is registered for farm but wishes to try out and play in the higher level of Minors, he or she may do so. See the tryout information below in this message.

MINORS/MAJORS
: See tryout schedule below.

JUNIORS: Juniors do not need to try out, but still must verify residency. We are currently at only 4 sign-ups with several others remaining interested. Juniors games will not start until April, so we have time to continue to ask more players to participate. If we do not have a Juniors team, registered players will be issued a refund.

TRYOUTS/RESIDENCY VERIFICATION SCHEDULE

***League Age 8's must be registered as Farm players. Higher-level 8's are welcome to try out for Minors, however, there is no guarantee they will be selected. If selected to Minors, there will be an upcharge in registration fees of $70. Important Please email Rachel Boyer Shuman for your 8 year old to be named in the tryout list.

League ages may differ from actual age! Confirm your child's league age here.

Tryouts are a very fun activity where coaches match names and faces. All players league age 9-12 are selected to teams no matter what. Players will participate in the following drills: field ground balls from the shortstop position and throw to first base, field fly balls, baserunning, and hitting. Your age group will take approximately 1 hour and parents can finish the residency paperwork during this time.

Team drafts will take place Monday, Feb 4 and Wednesday, Feb 6. On the 4th, Majors teams will be drafted. League Age 10-11-12 are eligible. All 12's no matter skill level are selected to Majors. Higher skill level 10's and 11's are also selected to this division although the number of 10's is usually very small, if at all. Rosters will be emailed that evening so families will know if their player was selected into Majors division. Two nights later on Feb 6, all remaining players (and possibly high-level 8's) will be selected into the Minors draft. After that draft, all minors and majors rosters will be set and practices can begin.

If you read this far, THANK YOU! Getting closer to playing ball!
